Footnotes

Hans von Tschammer und Osten took the title of Reichssportfuhrer, or "Sports Leader of the Empire", in July 1933 and led the Deutscher Reichsausschuss fur Leibesubungen (the German Imperial Commission for Physical Exercise). Along with Carl Diem, he played a pivotal role in the structure and organisation of the Games but, to his chagrin, never became a member of the IOC. Images include: a portrait of Tschammer und Osten; views of Berlin and its architecture; the Reichssportfeld gate; the Olympic village and a view of a regatta.
