Cast brass torch body, the black wooden shaft bearing an inscribed brass plaque "100 Years D.O.E. Olympia-Paris," 540mm. high

The International Olympic Movement, and the Olympic Committee we instituted at the Sorbonne at a Paris Conference called by Pierre de Coubertin on 23rd June, 1894. The committee quickly decided the venues for the first two Olympiads, Athens in 1896 and Paris in 1900, giving rise to the Modern Olympics as we know them.
