A Meissen cup and saucer, circa 1740

The cup painted with a continuous chinoiserie scene depicting figures on each side flanked by flowers above an iron-red double-line border, the saucer with three similar vignettes around the moulded stand-ring, the well of the cup with a circular chinoiserie scene and the well of the saucer with a similar scene in purple camaieu, gilt-edged rims, the gilt-edged scroll handle with shell thumbpiece, the cup: 6.1cm high; the saucer: 13.3cm diam., crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, impressed 24 to both (haircrack to handle) (2)
