A Meissen teapot and cover, circa 1735

Painted with a continuous chinoisere scene depicting, on one side, four figure bowing to a bearded potentate seated on a raised pedestal, the reverse with four figures flanking a table by a palm-tree, the animal spout and wishbone handle embellished in gilding, the handle also striped in iron-red, the cover with three miniature chinoiserie vignettes and a gilt pinecone finial, 10.3cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 46. to both (worn on the teapot), impressed Former's mark oo for Johann Gottlieb Kühnel to the teapot (tiny flat rim chips) (2)
