A Meissen octagonal slop bowl, circa 1735-40

Decorated with four chinoiserie vignettes on gilt pedestals embellished with Böttger lustre, purple- and iron-red foliate scrollwork and swags, alternating with large branches of indianische Blumen, a similar chinoiserie vignette in the centre below a gilt border of trellis panels and scrollwork inside the rim, 17.6cm across, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised // inside footrim (restored haircrack to one panel)
