Kyoto, late 18th century
Standing, his body twisted slightly to the left as he holds a captured wild boar on his back, he wears a long coat divided asymmetrically, engraved with a design of breaking waves and fastened with two inlaid buttons, a broad-rimmed hat and buckled shoes, the slightly-worn ivory bears a fine patina and the eye pupils are inlaid, unsigned. 9.5cm (3¾in).
