A wood netsuke of Gama sennin

By Naito Toyomasa (1773-1856), Tanba, early 19th century
Seated, looking up and crying out, his body twisted to the right as he supports a huge toad over his head, the slightly-worn wood bears a fine patina and the eyes are inlaid with pale translucent horn, signed Toyomasa. 5.2cm (2in).
