A wood netsuke of a shishi and cub

By Yoshimasa, early 19th century
The former seated, looking to the left with open mouth as it rests one forepaw protectively on the cub which snuggles into its side, the wood slightly worn and bearing a fine patina, signed in an oval reserve Yoshimasa. 4.5cm (1¾in).
