An ivory netsuke of a hare and two leverets

Attributed to Tomotada, Kyoto, late 18th century
The former seated, turning slightly to the right and resting one forepaw protectively on one of her offspring while the other reclines at her side, its head raised to lick her jaw, three fallen leaves resting beneath, the slightly-worn ivory bears a good patina and the eye pupils are inlaid, signed in a rectangular reserve Tomotada. 5.1cm (2in).
