The boldly-carved feline seated with its large head turned back to the left, its mouth open and its tail passing forward over the back, the himotoshi passing between the forelegs, the slightly-worn wood bears a good patina and the eyes are of brass with dark pupils, signed hachi-ju-ni sai Minko with kao. 4.8cm (1 7/8in).

This is typical of the work produced by Minko in his later years, the inscription stating that he carved the netsuke at the age of 82.
