A gold-mounted oval snuff box, 19th century
Of bombé shape, decorated in Meissen style with an elaborate continuous scene of huntsmen on horseback and their hounds chasing a stag, a harlequin appearing from behind the bushes riding his easel and waving a slapstick in the air, the cover showing the huntsmen and the slain deer, the inside of the cover with an elegantly dressed huntress, holding her gloves in one hand, stroking one of her hounds with the other, the base of the box with a scene of the hounds bringing down the stag, 6.5cm wide, crossed swords in underglaze-blue on the interior base of the box
