A gold-mounted oval snuff box, possibly Tournai, circa 1770-80
Finely painted with polychrome scenes in 17th-century Dutch style within borders of puce scrollwork, the side with two large and two small tavern scenes, the base with a scene of fisherman by a shore, the cover depicting an alchemist's workshop and the inside cover a kitchen scene, the mounts with 'eagle's head' (twice) guarantee mark for Paris after 1838, 8.1cm wide
