A rare Mennecy silver-mounted drum-shaped snuff box, circa 1770-80

Modelled with purple-edged drapery, the cover painted with a martial trophy, the side with a similar trophy including a radiant sun with an eye in the centre and a flag with fleurs de lys, the reverse with a pile of cannonballs and a fleur de lys, the underside coloured in ochre, indistinct discharge marks, possible for Paris, 1783-86, 4.5cm high, 6.5cm diam., (flat chip to edge of drapery)
