A Frankenthal gilt-metal-mounted rectangular snuff box, circa 1770
Of slightly waisted form with a domed cover and the exterior moulded with a basketwork pattern, the base and cover painted with chinoiserie scenes after Jean Pillement, the sides with landscape scenes depicting ruins, castles and bridges over rivers, the inside cover with a scene of peasants smoking and drinking, the mounts with wavy borders, 8cm wide
