A Höchst gilt-metal-mounted oval snuff box, circa 1775
Painted in puce camaieu, the cover, base, front and back each with a landscape vignette a river or estuary scene, each side with trailing flowers tied with a ribbon at the rim, the inside cover with a landscape scene depicting a girl with a birdcage and her companion holding a bird, seated by a riverbank with a bridge and village in the distance, the mounts chased with foliate scrollwork, 10.2cm across (minor rubbing to base)
