The scenes of children dressed as commedia figures could be based on the engravings of Jean Moyreau (French, 1690-1762) after Jean-Antoine Watteau's 'La Cause Badine' from the Oeuvres Des Estampes Gravées d'après les Tableaux & Dessins de feu par Antoine Watteau.
