A Michaux style velocipede, late 1860s,
finely made diamond section frame with flat forks, rear brake operated by twist handlebar with turned wooden grips, 37½ ins diameter wooden front wheel with tri-angular cast bronze block pedals, 31 ins rear, metal rimmed wheels, with remains of original wooden rims, hubs and spokes distressed and overpainted red, the frame painted in gloss green enamel, metalwork seemingly structurally sound, lacks saddle cover, sold together with a photograph of the Daily Mirror July 4 1935, depicting this velocipede in use.
