WALLY SCHIRRA'S CSM MODEL.

Model of the Apollo Command/Service Module (CSM) with escape tower standing 20½ inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. Made of injected-molded plastic with a metal escape tower lattice painted white, by the Walter J. Hyatt Company of North Hollywood, California. Decals define the location of the crew entry hatch, windows, and Command Module attitude control rocket engines. The Service Module has full three dimensional attitude control rockets and decals defining other structures. The large Service Propulsion System (SPS) engine bell is visible through a viewing window at the base. The circular plastic base is 7 inches in diameter with text that reads: "Apollo Spacecraft, North American Rockwell." A silver and blue Hyatt tag is attached to the underside of the base. The base, SM, CM, and tower are all detachable.

With WALLY SCHIRRA'S signed provenance note, reading: "This Apollo spacecraft model was presented to me after the flight of Apollo 7. I was commander of the 11 day earth orbit mission during October 11 to 22, 1968. Apollo 7 was the first manned Apollo flight and extensive tests of the command and service modules were the major mission objectives. The successful completion of Apollo 7 was a critical step to landing on the moon."
