GEMINI 5 LAUNCH POSTAL COVER—CREW SIGNED.

Postal envelope with a Space Craft cachet featuring the Gemini spacecraft and earth orbit map. Cape Canaveral postmark dated August 21, 1965, the launch date of Gemini 5. The envelope is displayed between paragraphs of a Typed Letter Signed by Stafford.

With THOMAS P. STAFFORD'S signed provenance letter, reading: "The Gemini 5 envelope displayed below comes from my personal collection. The envelope was postmarked on the launch day of Gemini 5—August 21, 1965. This envelope has been signed by the Gemini 5 crew—Commander Gordon Cooper and Pilot Charles Conrad. Gemini 5 established a world record for space flight endurance, 8 days, and was the beginning of the United States lead over the Soviet Union in space exploration. The 8 day flight proved that astronauts could survive the expected length of a lunar flight and achieve President John F. Kennedy's national goal of landing on the moon by the end of the 1960s."
