FLOWN CAMERA AND FILM STOWAGE CONTAINER.

Flown padded container constructed of Beta cloth, 11 x 9 x 8 inches. A side access flap secures to the container body with three rivet snaps and has a circular opening at the upper center. Dual side labels read in part: "S019 Camera & Film. B1 Return, Insert Canister So Disconnect Coupling Will Protrude Thru Flap." Three detailed steps for securing the container are listed on the second label. An interior label has the part number "V56-786896-101" and serial number "06362 AAK1535" listed. The container has a total of four inspection stamps.

This container was carried and used by the second manned Skylab crew (SL-3) commanded by Alan Bean during July and August 1973. It logged over 59 days in space while in earth orbit. The S019 camera was designed to record ultraviolet (UV) spectra lines from stars and other astronomical objects. It was comprised of a specially designed 35mm camera, UV film, and a special reflecting telescope mounted to the Skylab airlock. At the end of the flight, the camera and film were placed in this container then stowed in the Command Module B1 storage locker for return to earth.
Included are copies of documents listing the NASA artifact number (1623) being from Command Module (S/C # 117) for the transfer to the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) and de-accession papers from NASM.
The outer flap has been boldly signed and inscribed by ALAN BEAN with "Skylab 3 CDR."
