TISSUE DISPENSER FROM APOLLO 14 KITTY HAWK.

Tissue dispenser assembly, manufactured by B. Welson Co., March 1968. Beta cloth over a stiffer core, 9 x 5 x 3 inches. Close-fitting lid hinges open; inside a compartment with snap-fasteners would hold standard-sized tissues, dispensing them through a slot in the Beta cloth covering. Velcro patch on top of lid, label stitched on front with part number "SEB42100086-203" and serial number "1180." Signed and inscribed on the top "This tissue dispenser was flown to the moon aboard the 'Kittyhawk' on Apollo 14. Edgar Mitchell, LMP."

Even while orbiting the moon, astronauts still have to blow their noses. This tissue dispenser made the half-million mile journey from the Earth to the moon and back, and spent over 2¾ days in lunar orbit. Welson & Co. also produced coverall jackets, trousers, and overshoes for use in space by the Apollo astronauts. Inscribed by EDGAR MITCHELL and from his personal collection.
