A Meissen blue-ground clock case, late 19th century
Of rectangular architectonic form, moulded with gilt-edged columns at the corners and foliate scrollwork around the clockface, the sides with pierced, gilt-edged oval foliate medallions and white foliate scrollwork, surmounted by an arched roof moulded with gilt-edged foliate scrollwork at the front, foliate edges, and with gilt foliate scrollwork at the rear, all on a rectangular base on four ball feet, flanked by classical maidens holding masks, the front moulded with gilt-edged foliate scrollwork, the dial inscribed 'Howell & James Limtd./ To the Queen', 36.7cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised model number 818 and impressed 101
