A Meissen milk jug, circa 1745

Decorated with green Watteauesque scenes of gallant couples in garden landscapes, their faces painted in flesh tones, the surroundings in copper green and black, the wishbone handle and moulded spout picked out in gilding, the rim with a band of gilt strapwork, 11.1cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 14 (spout restored, cover missing)
