A Meissen saucière, circa 1740

Of shaped oval form with a shell-moulded base raised on four gilt-edged scroll feet, applied with a gilt-edged handle on each side, moulded with a mask spout at either end, painted in Kakiemon style with the 'Gelber Löwe' pattern of a yellow tiger curling its body around a blue bamboo stalk and flowering prunus, the interior with scattered flower sprigs, brown-edged rim, 24.3cm across, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised 46 (two feet and tip of one handle restored)
