A late 19th century Anglo Indian Vizagapatam sewing box

the sandalwood cover carved and front and sides with a temple in a tree with elephants and monkeys in foliage within tinted ivory and metal mosaic bands, enclosing a fully fitted interior and a removable panel, raised on claw feet 32cm wide x 23cm deep x 11.5cm high, (12.5in wide x 9in deep x 4.5in high)

Enclosed within the box are two photographs and an inscribed postcard, 'This box was given to me by the Rajah and Rani of Fanckhandi. She was one of the first Hindu ladies to begin to come out with European Society. She had an English Governess and I used to correspond with her, the Rani, not the Governess.. The photographs are of the Rani and Rajah'.
