Feu de brousse (Bushfire) 2008 The Warlugulong bushfire dreaming myth of the painting which inspired this tapestry, inform many of Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri's works. It concerns the punishment by fire of two brothers who broke an ancient law concerning the sharing of game.
From an aerial perspective, the work may be read as blackened landscape with islands of smouldering spinifex grass, clearly marked out in the white footprints of the men's path as they flee from the flames. The presence of the Possum and Wallaby Ancestors who set fire to the spinifex grass is indicated by their tracks, also in white.

The Atelier, or Manufacturer Pinton at Felletin near Aubusson is one of the world's foremost tapestry studios boasting close realationships with iconic international artists including Pablo Picasso. Their close relationship with the Australian art and artists has been realised in a number of works including the Sydney Opera House tapestries of John Coburn.
