Footnotes

This study for Gould's print is accompanied by a letter from Alan R. McEvey, Curator of Birds at the National Museum in Victoria, dated 1974, which suggests the attribution and states that he believes the work was probably not by Gould but was more likely to be by either Hart (or possibly Richter) who worked with him on the ornothological prints. This study would probably have been the final drawing from which the lithograph was taken.
