An Italian Partizan
Early 16th Century

With long tapering triangular double-edged blade clipped-in on both sides towards the base and with medial ridge on each side, the base with short upcurved pointed side-lugs, decorated on both sides with a symmetrical design of scrolling foliage against a pounced ground and retaining very faint traces of gilding, tapering faceted socket en suite (pierced with a hole), and side-straps secured by a later broad iron band, on old wooden staff of octagonal section (incomplete and some worming, light pitting overall)
