An East European War-Hammer (Obuch)
17th Century, Probably Polish

Of iron, with head of tapering square section comprising hammer with waisted sides, circular socket, and robust downcurved beak-like fluke, decorated overall in Ottoman taste with symmetrical designs of inlaid silver arabesques and stylised tulips, all within silver borders and against a ground of silver pellets
