The first with German late 16th century double-edged rapier blade stamped with the sacred 'IHS' monogram within the fuller on each side of the forte, rectangular ricasso with incised line borders, characteristic iron hilt with cusped decoration and comprising downcurved arms with side-ring, downbent drop-shaped rear quillon, knuckle-guard with finial en suite, and beaked dark horn grip (pommel incomplete); the second with curved fullered single-edged blade struck with marks on each side of the ricasso, gold-damascened iron hilt comprising downcurved quillons and knuckle-guard each with plummet-shaped terminals, silver collar (originally enamelled), and beaked rhinoceros horn grip; the third with broad fullered blade (pitted) with traces of etched decoration on each side of the forte, hilt of similar form to the last and with chiselled decoration, and beaked wooden grip (split); the last with curved single-edged blade fullered along the back on each side, and hardwood grip (split) with pommel carved in the round as an eagle's head (4)
