A German Circular Powder-flask
17th Century

With rounded fruitwood body with pierced centre lined in turned staghorn, inlaid around each side with overlapping concentric circles each centred on a further smaller roundel incised with a ring of small circles each with a dot at the centre and framing a brass nail, the spaces between inlaid with staghorn pellets, all within staghorn line borders, the outer edge en suite, turned horn nozzle with sparsely engraved sprung brass tap, and two rectangular iron rings for suspension
14 cm. diam.
