The first each of hardwood and comprising a Fijian ula, with characteristic head of eight rounded lobes, and integral haft of circular section carved with vertical lines of wrigglework between plain lines at the grip, a Solomon Islands (Guadalcanal) club of tapering ovoidal form widening towards the head, the latter carved with a medial line along each side (rattan binding incomplete), two Soloman Islands paddles of characteristic form, one with ovoidal pointed head (tip repaired) carved with a medial ridge along each side (finial incomplete), and a New Britain dance paddle, each end of rounded form and carved with a horizontal band; the last mostly African and comprising examples with barbed or leaf-shaped points, some of iron, one with head formed from a large piece of knapped flint; together with two native wooden bows and a large leather shield with incised and applied decoration (18)
