A Pair Of English Rowel Spurs, And A Pair Of North Africa Stirrups
The First Early 17th Century, The Second 18th/19th Century

The first of iron, with tapering upcurved heel-bands of plano-convex section with large figure eight terminals retaining original hooks and buckles (one buckle replaced) with encrusted silver lines and pellets, and swept downbent necks each with later petalled rowel, decorated overall with encrusted silver decoration involving cherub's masks (worn, some pitting); the second each with slightly arched foot-plate pierced with circular holes, triangular sides arched at the top and surmounted by a D-shaped leather loop, the outer surfaces decorated with gilding incised with geometric designs and foliage, the sides each centred on a star in a circle (some surface rust) (4)
