With tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section stamped with a series of letters within the single fuller on each side of the forte, iron hilt mainly of flattened bars and comprising vertically recurved trifurcated quillons each with pierced and chiselled lion-head finial, arms, two outer side-rings each swelling towards a central moulding and joined by a kidney-shaped central bar, two inner side-rings and a thumb-ring, the lower outer and inner side-rings each originally filled by a sprung-in plate (now missing), earlier pommel finely pierced with scrolls enclosing oval panels, and spirally-fluted wooden grip bound with twisted iron wire between iron Turk's heads, the silver decoration on the guard perhaps of later date (areas of pitting)
