Early 17th Century, The Guard Probably English
With tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section numbered '1511' within the fuller on each side of the forte, rectangular ricasso struck with the Toledo mark on both sides, hilt comprising guard of slender flattened bars with vertically recurved quillons widening at the tips, arms with, on the outside, side-rings above and below, the space between filled by a diagonal and an upcurved bar, and with trifurcated bar on the inner side, associated compressed rounded pommel with flattened button, and later grip bound with twisted iron wire between iron ferrules (some pitting overall)
