A Swept-Hilt Rapier In Early 17th Century Style
Probably 19th Century

With tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section stamped 'Quien A Son Enemigo Popa A Sus Manos Vienna A Morir' within the fuller at the forte on each side, rectangular ricasso stamped with maker's mark on one side, hilt of rounded bars comprising recurved quillons with double swelling terminals, downcurved arms, the tips linked by four concentric side-rings on the outside, the upper one linked by a diagonal bar to the knuckle-bar, the latter with finial en suite with the quillons, the inner side with four bars swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, barrel-shaped pommel with button, and grip bound with twisted iron wire (some light pitting)
