Third Quarter Of The 17th Century
With long slender sharply tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section, the forte with central fuller on each side incised 'Domingo Canchez' between dots, short ricasso incised with a mark on one side, hilt comprising straight spirally-fluted quillons with bands of roping and fluted button terminals, knuckle-guard en suite, short slender arms, cup with flanged edge (rompepuntas) roped along the top and pierced and chiselled with scrolling foliage, and pierced and chiselled overall with flowering scrolling foliage, large guardapolvo pierced and chiselled en suite and centred on a rosette, compressed pommel chiselled with foliage and with button finial, and later spirally-grooved grip bound with twisted iron wire (cup with some minor old damage and repairs)
