With 18th century tapering double-edged blade of slightly hollowed flattened hexagonal section, the forte etched and gilt (gilding worn) on the sides with a trophy of arms beneath an arched panel of foliated strapwork, a draped foliate ledge above, large iron hilt of reeded bars comprising double shell-guard chiselled with double foliate feature at the centre on each side and finely engraved on both sides of the shell with symmetrical scrolling foliage, reeded quillon-block with downcurved arms, rear quillon and knuckle-guard all springing from chiselled foliage on either side, the quillon with foliate terminal and button, knuckle-guard with central feature en suite with the shell-guard, earlier reeded barrel-shaped pommel with chiselled foliate button, and later spirally-twist grip bound with twisted iron wire between guilloche Turk's heads
