With bright curved fullered blade with false double-edge towards the point, etched over half its length on both sides of the forte against a dull grey ground with scrolling foliage and a martial trophy above an indistinct bladesmith's name, one side involving the crowned monogram of Franz Joseph, and with the Austro-Hungarian coat-of-arms on the other, cast and chased gilt-brass hilt comprising recurved foliate quillons with a central cartouche on each side, one side with applied Hungarian coat-of-arms, lion-head pommel in the round, grip-straps chased with laurel, and mother-of-pearl grip-scales, in original wooden scabbard covered in dark blue velvet with gilt-brass locket, chape and suspension mount embossed and chased with symmetrical designs of foliage and rocailles, the locket and suspension mount each set with three cabochon turquoises on one side and both carrying a ring for suspension
