A Scottish Hunting Knife, And A Lock-Knife
The First By Couper Johnstone & Co., Ld., Glasgow, The Second By James Rodgers, Sheffield, Both 19th Century

The first with bright tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section stamped with maker's details on one side, hilt comprising flat brass guard, and swelling dark horn grip in imitation of pruned brier set with numerous mother-of-pearl dots, in brass-mounted brown leather scabbard, the locket with belt-hook; the second with bright double-edged blade of flattened diamond section stamped with maker's details on one side at the forte, embossed white-metal guard, characteristic sprung thumb-catch, and rounded bone grip-scales (minor patination) (2)
