A Bowie Knife
Late 19th Century

With bright double-edged blade (extreme tip missing) of flattened diamond section with narrow central fuller over most of its length on each side, rectangular forte stamped 'Woodcock's Celebrated Cutlery' and 'Universally Approved' on each side, the latter within an oval, hilt comprising straight faceted steel quillons with swelling tips, embossed foliate white-metal basal mount, and tapering swelling ivory grip (old splits) carved with a horse's head pommel in the round set with glass eyes (one missing), in original hard brown leather scabbard with tooled borders and white-metal locket and chape, the former with frog-button
