Of plain circular form with planished finish, suspended from metal wall bracket and complete with beater,
43cm diameter

Attached label reads "Gong from the Empress's Palace in Peking, China, taken during the Chinese War by Montolieu 10th Lord Elibank."

Montolieu Fox Oliphant Murray (1840-1927) fought in the China Expedition in 1860 before succeeding to the title of 10th Lord Elibank of Etrick Forest, Selkirk.
