Footnotes

Robert Warner (c.1815-1896) was an orchid grower from Cheltenham in Essex. "The present publication is designed to present the lovers of Orchids with portraits of such of the most beautiful and recent acquisitions among the cultivated forms of this remarkable race of plants... it is intended that our illustrations shall present not only accurate but highly-finished portraits of the most interesting of the species." Benjamin S. Williams wrote the notes on culture. A third series was issued in 1877-1891.
