Folkard tipped-in to inside upper cover of volume one, original green printed parts wrappers bound in, red half morocco gilt by Zaehnsdorf, elephant folio (758 x 590mm.), Madrid, Imprenta y Calcografia Nacional, 1859-1881[-1886]

SCARCE MONUMENTAL SURVEY OF THE ARCHITECTURE OF SPAIN, no comparable set recorded as being offered at auction in the past thirty-five years. Originally published in parts at the expense of the State, both text and plates (including many chromolithographed and heightened in gold) are printed on thick paper. Each part is devoted to individual buildings, from the Roman to Byzantine, the Gothic and Moorish, including those at Cordoba, Granada, Seville, and Toledo.
