Into Afrique and the Greater Asia, Especially the Territories of the Persian Monarchie, and Some Parts of the Orientall Indies, and Iles Adiacent... as also the Two Great Monarchs, the King of Persia, and the Great Mogol, first edition, additional engraved title by William Marshall, numerous engraved illustrations, woodcut device on title and colophon, 2E3 torn without loss, early pen and ink thumbnail sketch of a woodcock on page 215, inscribed on front free endpaper "Lord Fauconberg his Booke, 1677", with a list of expenses on recto and verso, bookplate of FitzEdward Hall, contemporary calf, rebacked and repaired [STC 13190; Sabin 31471], folio, William Stansby, and Jacob Bloome, 1634

A very good copy with a distinguished provenance, bearing the ownership inscription of Thomas Belasyse, 1st Earl Fauconberg (c.1627–1700), and a list of his expenses, headed "At ye Bull in Bushopgate' and including "to mr. Gifford to bye tobacco" -- 20s, "Paid to my Ld: of Canterbury...", "for bokes -- 9S".

Earl Fauconberg was a supporter of the Parliamentary cause in the English Civil War, drawing close to Oliver Cromwell and marrying his third daughter Mary. After the Restoration he was made member of the Privy Council to Charles II and was elevated to an earldom by William III. He was also Lord Lieutenant of the North Riding of Yorkshire (1660–1692).
