Drummond travelled in Cyprus and Asia Minor for commercial reasons during 1744-1750 and was British Consul at Aleppo from 1754 to 1756. Written in the form of letters to his brother George, the book includes lengthy descriptions of the antiquities of Cyprus, with illustrations and a large folding map of the island.
