[signature], Buckingham Palace, March, 1876", 5 chromolithographed plates, 20 engraved plates, blindstamp on title and 2 plates (just touching image of one), publisher's green half morocco, gilt lettering on upper cover, g.e., slightly rubbed, folio (590 x 435mm.), John Murray, 1873

Footnotes

A presentation copy, inscribed by Queen Victoria, of a fine record of the Albert Memorial. Commissioned by Victoria, but paid for by public subscription, the Memorial was designed by George Gilbert Scott and officially opened by the Queen in July 1872, with the central gilt-covered statue of Albert placed in position in 1875. This copy was given to the artist George F. Teniswood, who worked on the completion of the statue after the death of original designer and sculptor John H. Foley in 1874.
