Henry Tristram, English clergyman and naturalist, made the his first extensive visit to Palestine and Egypt in 1858-59, returning in 1863 and again between 1880 and 1881. Pathways is illustrated with 45 carbon prints by Frank Mason Good, one time assistant to Francis Frith, who made several trips to the region between 1866 and 1875. Includes views in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and the Holy Land. See illustration on preceding page.
