Monachi Albanensis, Angli, historia major, à Guilielmo Conquaestore, ad ultimum annum Henrici tertii, FIRST EDITION, second issue, title within fine hand-coloured woodcut decorative border containing putti and cornucopiae, in blue and yellow with details picked out in red and green, 2 hand-coloured historiated initials (one depicting a peacock and satyr), hand-coloured portraits of 6 kings of England, occasional spotting and dampstaining, title with small hole in lower margin and short tear repaired on verso, single wormtrail to lower margin from Hhh1 to end, dampstain to upper right corner from index c3 to end, lacks blank *6?, numerous contemporary marginal annotations in several hands, bookplate of Thomas Moore with crest of the Earls of Drogheda, contemporary panelled calf, covers with gilt arabesque centrepieces, rebacked, rubbed, lacking ties [STC 19209a], 4to, Reginald Wolfe, 1571 [colophon 1570]
