VERY SCARCE PRINTED AND AUTOGRAPH VERSE BY THOMAS LYSTER, WITH AN UNRECORDED SECOND WORK. In common with the British Library copy of Fragments, the author has added considerably to the printed verse with poems and meditations on old age, some signed or initialled, including "A Preludium", "Additional Fragments. The Three Ages of Man", "A Watch-word to the Drunkard", and "A review of my age. May 10th 1715".
The second work is apparently unrecorded, comprising an initial leaf ("A Poem. Touching the decay of his Sight. By T.L. 1718"), a title-page without imprint, and a a poem "On our Civil Wars" (A3-6). The three broadsheet poems are entitled "A Glance Upon His Spent Time", "The Parents Warning-Piece, or a Legacy, Left to his Childreu (sic) and Grand-children", and "A Funeral Poem Designed to be Set up near the Interr'd Body of T.L.". ESTC records two copies of Fragments (T107976), and two or three copies of each of the broadsheets (listed individually as T107977-9). See illustration on preceding page.
